GBACC NEWS:
The GBACC General Business Meeting was at the Green Country Inn on May 2nd at 7:30 AM. Walt Stull representing the Brunswick Railroad Museum was the "Spotlight Speaker". Ellen Lerner of Creative Possibilities, Jerry Connelly of Pleasants Development, Inc. and Gabe Carbonell of Pulte Homes spoke on "How GBACC Can Benefit from New Development in the Area".
The GBACC Business Card Exchange on June 10th was fantastic. Thirty members attended the Exchange on the second floor of the Brunswick Railroad Museum. Members were able to view the museum exhibits and visit the train layout on the third floor. The trains were running and they impressed everyone. Ellis Burruss of Bellwether Printing, event sponsor, put out an elegant display of refreshments, spreads, cheeses and wine. Bill and Edie Sims of Antiques N' Ole Stuff added to the evening by donating, to the Museum, a very large photo of the last steam engine train leaving Brunswick. The winners of the door prizes were: Mary Nix of Aflac won a carpet clearing kit donated by Blue Ridge Floors, Karl L. Brink of Connie Phillips Insurance (new member) won a gift certificate donated by Book Crossing and Bill and Edie Sims of Antiques N’ Ole Stuff won a gift basket donated by Stone Manor Vineyards
It was certainly a special night for GBACC. Our thanks go out to everyone at the Brunswick Museum that made it happen.
I hope everyone in GBACC will pay the Museum a visit, it is a wonderful adventure and when you have guests from out of town you should make it a must see.

On a personal note: If you have not attended a First Friday event in downtown Brunswick, this is the one you should not miss. “Pet-A-Palooza” is great fun! Last year I had never seen so many dogs in one place! All the pets got along fine and had a great time. I laughed all night watching all the fun things going on around Potomac Street. So get the family, the family pet and come on down for a wonderful time. Cats and all other pets are also welcome and will have a fun time. My cat “Mr. Muffin” will be here to take in the sights.
Editor’s note: If you have any positive news about our area, drop me a line and I will include it in this space

From Judy Cheng of Emerald Garden: A small group of dedicated Brunswick volunteers established the C P L Youth Center initiative in early 2007 to provide our local kids with a safe, supervised after-school program that will provide them with tutoring, mentoring, and access to fun, affordable, enriching classes in martial arts, dance, crafts, languages and more. Children and teens from Brunswick, Knoxville, Lovettsville and the surrounding areas will be welcome at the C P L Youth Center, the name of which stands for "Care, Protect, and Love."
