The next monthly membership meeting of the Greater Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce will be held on Monday, May 1st, 7:00PM, at the Green Country Inn - 620 Souder Road. All new and prospective members are invited to attend.
GBACC News:
The Business Card Exchange was held on April 26, 2006 at the Green Country Inn from 5:00–7:00 pm. Charlotte Klaar of College Consulting Services sponsored the event which boasted 23 attendees. CM Bloomers, Lowry’s Farm Market and Beans in the Belfry Café donated the door prizes and Jeremy Biser of Altitude Home Inspections, Inc. was the first winner! The next Business Card Exchange will be on June 2nd at Beans in the Belfry from 5:00–7:00 pm.

UPCOMING EVENTS FOR MAY 2006
FIRST FRIDAY – Pet-A-Palooza, May 5, 2006 5:00-9:00 pm
Activities will kick-off at 5:00pm with a free concert in the Square Corner Park. The event will feature special activities, live entertainment and extended store hours in the downtown area. Enjoy the pet photo stop, canine cantina, and McGruff the Crime Dog. Organized by Brunswick Main Street, May’s First Friday Night on the Town invites to bring your pets down for this event.
Enjoy live music with Buddy Rizer of WTRI in Square Corner Park.
Other activities sponsored by merchants and organizations during the April First Friday include: Animal safety tips; Ferret Inn Animal Rescue and Leader Dog Program; dog bandanna give-away; and pet treats. The Brunswick Railroad Museum Store will also open 5-9pm that evening.
Youth Pet Show, Friday, May 5, 2006, 7:00 PM
Bring your pet to Square Corner Park for the Pet Show! Categories include: best trick; scariest and prettiest; most unusual; best costume; most talkative and quietist; shortest and longest tail; most obedient and more. Even if you are not a pet owner, come down and enjoy the show.

*EVENTS AT BOOK CROSSING for May, 2006:
May 5th - 5pm to 9pm - During Main Street's Pet-A-Palooza, Book Crossing, along with Former International Trainer Debby Kay, will be discussing and distributing Animal Safety Information. She also has a book she wrote for Labrador Training. Also, adopt a Webkinz Animal Special - see store for details.
Friday May 12th and Saturday May 13th - It's our now famous "Fill a Bag of Books for $5.00" Event...all day for both days. Also, we have new selected books at 50% off.
Every Thursday 10:30am - Children’s Story Time…Stories-Songs-Treats
Tuesdays - always 10% for Senior Citizens.
Thursday, May 4th – “National Day of Prayer” - All religion books are 15% OFF.
Monday, May 15th – “Mothers Are Special” – Moms, please stop by for a piece of our special cake in your honor.
Saturday, May 20th – “Armed Forces Day” - all military receive 15% off purchases. We thank you for all you do for our country.
May 31st - "My Book Club" meets – will discuss Blackbird House by Alice Hoffman.
Brunswick United Methodist Parish Church Events:
May 13 – New York Hill UMC Joy Class Bake Sale, beginning at 9 am at the Brunswick Shopping Center Gazebo.
May 20 – The First UMC Church UMW Family Dinner, 5pm at First Church Fellowship Hall. Tickets cost $10.00 each. Call the parish office at 301-834-7320 for tickets. Entertainment will follow the dinner.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
>Potomac River Family Festival and the “Great Brunswick River Race”
Saturday, June 10, 2006 11am–3:00pm at the Brunswick City Campground.
River Race – featuring homemade boats! Build your own, have a great time and compete for prizes! You can also rent a canoe, tube or kayak. Applications available at City Hall or from the city web site: http://www.brunswickmd.gov/
Boat judging is at noon, with the race beginning at 1:00pm.
The 1-mile race is for canoes & kayaks, commercial and non-profit categories.
