NEWS FROM THE MEMBERSHIP:

From Diane Ellis of Sundance Art and Frame: Things have been quiet this week down on Potomac Street, but I know everyone is starting to think about gifts for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Make sure you buy those gifts in BRUNSWICK. I know I would be thrilled if my son bought me a piece of fine art, but I’ll be lucky if I get just a card.

Here at Sundance Art & Frame (18 W. Potomac St.), we have some beautiful prints of flowers and birds that any Mom would love. We also have classic baseball photos of such greats as Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Harmen Killebrew. These are unique prints from a collection of old negatives from some of the nation’s best sports photographers. We also have pictures of Cal Ripken – a wonderful photo from his 1983 spring training and a serigraph from his farewell game. These would make great Father’s Day gifts and will become collector’s items when Cal enters the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer.

So think about how Mom & Dad slaved away for years so that you could have a better life, then go ahead and just buy that card, only make sure you buy it in Brunswick!

Jean Toleman from the Harpers Ferry Hostel writes: The Harpers Ferry Hostel, part of Hostelling International, a nonprofit organization, is in need of a new roof and gutters. On May 12th and 13th a work weekend will be held to put new gutters on. Anyone interested in helping with this project would be welcomed! For those who don't like climbing ladders, help in the kitchen to feed the hungry and other volunteer jobs will be options. Also, if anyone knows of a good roofing and/or and insulation companies, we would really appreciate the information. Call 301 834-8859 for more information.
