The GBACC President was absent so Vice President Ben Mourad called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. Eight members were in attendance.
The minutes of the March meeting were accepted as posted on the web site.
David Swope was absent so a Treasurer’s Report was not given. For information on the Treasurer’s report please contact the treasurer.
Membership Committee: Ben Mourad, co-chair of the Membership Committee, gave a short report on membership. Members with delinquent membership dues have been contacted. The membership packets will go out soon.
Music Festival 2010: Hanna Politis of Brunswick Main Street spoke about the plans for a June 2010 Music Festival in the Historic District of Brunswick. Main Street is applying for government grants but will need donations from other organization. Main Street will give a presentation on the Music Festival at the June 3rd GBACC Business Meeting.
Activities: Katherine Iacovelli gave more detail on the upcoming May 2nd GBACC and EDC Trade Show. Businesses interested in the Trade Show can now fill out the application and pay on line. Advertisements will be going out in the Frederick News Post, Leesburg Today, and the Brunswick Citizen. A postcard is being prepared and will be sent out to the local area. Door prizes are still need. Information on the Trade Show is in the Friday GBACC bulletin each week.
Jerry Knight, chair of the Events Committee, spoke about the April 16th Business Card Exchange at Crown Rose Manor. Middletown Chamber of Commerce, Frederick Chamber of Commerce, Mt Airy Chamber of Commerce and the Lovettsville VA Business Association are invited to attend the exchange. The Frederick Goodwill is the sponsor.
Technology Committee: Phil Graves, Chair of the Technology Committee gave a presentation on how to fill out an application and pay on line. Phil also explained how members would soon be able to edit their listing in the web directory.
Announcements for upcoming events for other organization were given from the floor.
The business portion of the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.
The speaker for the meeting was Betsy Day, President of the Community Foundation of Frederick County. Ms Day spoke about the grants that are given out each year by the Community Foundation. She explained how local groups could participate in these grants. More information on the Community Foundation and the grants will be in an upcoming Friday bulletin.
