GBACC GENERAL BUSINESS MEETING September 2, 2009, 2009

The GBACC President called the meeting to order at 7:45 AM.    Eleven members were in attendance.
The minutes of the July meeting were accepted as posted on the web site.
GBACC Treasurer David Swope gave the Treasurer Report and copies for file. For a complete Treasurer’s Report contact the GBACC Treasurer.
 
Membership Committee: Cheryl Wathen, Membership Co-Chair introduced three new GBACC member in attendance at this mornings meeting. The new members Tina Wagner of Real Estate Teams, Rosemary Huf of Aflac and Heather Treadwell of Thrifty Sisters Treasures gave a brief description of their businesses. Cheryl showed a GBACC banner and ad in The Frederick News-Post Football 09 insert in today's newspaper.
Directory: Ellen Lerner discussed the Business Directory and answered questions.
Election of Board and Officers: The president announced the names for the Nomination/election Committee: Mary Elizabeth Bowie, Andy Kozak, John Cleveland, and Robert Bell. No one else volunteered to be on the N/E Committee when the opportunity was offered. The Committee will announce their nominees for VP, Treasurer and three board members at the October Business Meeting at which time additional nominees will be taken from the floor. Ballots will be mailed and the election will take place at the November meeting.
Activities: Jerry advised the next Business Card Exchange would be at Book Crossing on September 10th. The October 2nd Railroad Days Reception with Main Street is on schedule. Please check the Friday bulletins for current information. During Railroad Days on October 3 and 4, GBACC will have a tent where members can display their business literature.
Announcements: Diane Ellis announced Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Square Corner Park, there will be a free public showing of a teaser for the Ken Burns' PBS Series National Park Service: "America's Best Idea." C & O Canal/NPS Superintendent Kevin Brandt will share some opening comments and then there will be a 45 min. showing. The film is very good. The entire program will then be on PBS starting Sept. 27, for 6 episodes for a total of 12 hours.
 
The business portion of the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 AM.
Chuck Boteler of SuddenValues.com was the speaker for the meeting; his topic was “Loyalty Marketing Presentation”. Mr. Boteler discussed branding, direct response and loyalty in advertising.
