GBACC BOARD MINUTES AUGUST 18, 2009

Attending: Ellis Burruss, Jerry Knight, Gayle Shaw, David Swope, Bill Sims and Cheryl Wathen
 Absent: Ben Mourad

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.

 Minutes
The minutes from the last meeting were approved as posted on the web.

 Treasurer’s Report:
Dave Swope gave the Treasurer’s report and copies of the financial
statements to the GBACC Secretary for filing. For a complete
 treasurers report contact the treasurer.

 Bike Rack Proposal:
The City of Brunswick is trying to attract Bicyclists from the C&O
Canal tow path to shop in town. If a request should be made by the
City or the Economic Development Committee to donate a bike rack to
the Brunswick Historic District the Board will consider it. A
suggestion was made to put the bike rack in front of the Citizen lot
or in front of Antiques 'N Ole Stuff.

 Events:
Jerry Knight reported the Monday, August 24th Weather Lea Farm and
Vineyard event is on schedule. Beans in the Belfry, El Sloppy Taco
and Green Country Inn will be paid $30.00 each to supply food for the
 event.

GBACC will work with Brunswick Main Street on a Brunswick Railroad Day
Reception, Friday, October 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A budget of $300.00
was approved for the event. GBACC will also have an information booth
in the same canopy on Saturday and Sunday. Dave Swope will check on a
canopy for the event and Gail Shaw suggested we write Costco and ask
for a $25.00 in house gift certificate to help with the food. Jerry
 will write Costco.

 Membership:

Two new members joined in August. Thrifty Sisters in Lovettsville and
Little Bugs Day Care of Brunswick. There was also one inquiry about
 membership.

Organization: Bill Sims showed a brochure he got at a restaurant in
Havre de Grace, MD. The board members agreed it was a great example of
what Brunswick should have. Ellis is going to check on what it would
cost to do this kind of brochure and he will ask Ellen to check with
advertisers in the Business Directory to see if they would be
interested in taking an ad in a brochure.

The meeting adjourned at 7:10 pm
