GBACC GENERAL BUSINESS MEETING October 7, 2009

In the absence of the GBACC President, Vice-President Ben Mourad called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM.    Thirteen members were in attendance.
The minutes of the September meeting were accepted as posted on the web site.
GBACC Treasurer David Swope gave the Treasurer Report and copies for file. For a complete Treasurer’s Report contact the GBACC Treasurer.
 
 Officer and Board election: Andy Kozak presented the nominations from the Nomination/Election Committee. The GBACC Members who have been nominated for the 2010 Board are:
Phil Graves – Vice President
David Swope – Treasurer
Members at Large – Ben Mourad, Cheryl Wathen, and Rosemary Huf
No other nominations were presented from the floor so nominations were closed. Ballets will be prepared and sent out to the membership. The election will be at the November 4th General Meeting 7:30 am at the Green Country Inn.
 
Activities: Jerryreported theFriday, October 2nd reception with Brunswick Main Street was a great success. Read the Friday Bulletin for a thank you list of members who staffed the Railroad Days booth. The next Business Card Exchange will be November 12th at El Sloppy Tacos. It will be sponsored by Phil Graves of Out of the Mud Media. The December Business Card Exchange will be December 10th at Railside Café.
 
Jerry asked members if they had any suggestions for events in 2010. He suggested for January and February we have “speed networking”. The Lovettsville Business Association (LBA) will be asked to join us in this event. More information on “speed networking” will be presented later. The idea for a 2010 Business Expo was raised. GBACC will check with the LBA to see if they are interested in participating in an Expo.
 
Membership:  Cheryl Wathen, Membership Co-Chair, announced Advantage Homes has joined GBACC. Advantage is part of the Brunswick Crossing project. 
Publicity: Members were asked if they would like to participate in the next Frederick News Post insert they need to contact Ellis by Tomorrow.
It was also announced plans are underway for the next place mat.
Directory: The following report on the GBACC/EDC Business Directory is from Ellen Lerner: 46 total ads sold:   22 half-page    21 quarter page + two back covers & 1 sponsorship. Bought by: 41 members and 5 non-members   
 
 Goal:   $6000 At: $4390; Collected:  $1455; 9 deleted listings and 30 new listings.
Announcements: Katherine Iacovelli announced events for the EDC.
 
The business portion of the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 PM.
Chuck Hedges, founder of Agincourt Team Dynamics, discussed the dollar cost of conflict in an organization and ways to minimize these costs using state-of-the-art tools that enhance effective communications.
