Events:
The annual Award Dinner was discussed. The membership will be polled at the next meeting to see if they want to have the dinner and if there are any ideas of where it should be held.
“Speed Networking” will be the theme for the Thursday, January 21st Business Card Exchange at the Green Country Inn. The Lovettsville Business Association has been invited to join us for this event.
It was suggested GBACC have a 2010 Business Trade Show. Various ideas were discussed including having several tables at the Frederick Chamber of Commerce Trade Show. Jerry will check to see if the Frederick Chamber would allow it. Another idea was to invite the Lovettsville Business Association and the Middletown Chamber of Commerce to join in a Business Trade Show. A motion was made and passed that we discuss this at the Business Meeting.
Organizational:
The $50/$50 GBACC Bucks was discussed. In order to draw business to GBACC members from outside, the $50/$50 prize will be offered to the general public. It will be included in newspaper ads, placemat, and inserts. Ideas were discussed such as having a GBACC trivia question where the answer would have to be located in the web business directory. Ben will check with the GBACC Web Master Phil Graves to see if this can be done on the web site.
A GBACC Scholarship program was discussed. The members present did not know how such a program would be set up so Cheryl will check with several sources and report back at the next board meeting.
GBACC needs a storage area so all of the GBACC data, banners, Directories, and supplies can be kept in one place. GBACC member Bill Hopwood of Brunswick Storage will give us a climate controlled 5x5 storage unit for $35.00 per month. A motion was made and passed that we contract for the storage unit.
The January 6 Business Meeting will be an open forum and members will be ask to discuss what should be done in 2010.
