GBACC GENERAL BUSINESS MEETING, JANUARY 6, 2010

The President called the meeting to order at 7:45 AM.    Fourteen persons were in attendance.
The minutes of the December meeting were accepted as posted on the web site.
GBACC Treasurer David Swope gave the Treasurer's Report and copies for file. For a complete Treasurer’s Report contact the GBACC Treasurer.
Membership:   Rosemary Huf has joined the Membership Committee and Cheryl Wathen advised she will not be able to be as active on the Committee as before. It was announced the 2010 Membership Dues reminders will go out soon.
Events/Activities: The next business card exchange will be January 21st, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Green Country Inn. It will not be the usual event but will be “Speed Networking”. The Lovettsville Business Association will be joining us. See the web site for more information.
The GBACC Awards dinner is scheduled for March, but a location has not been decided on at this time. The members present were asked if they had any ideas for a location. A few possibilities were discussed but a decision was not made.
A proposal for GBACC to have several tables at the September Frederick Chamber of Commerce Trade Show was discussed. It would allow GBACC to reach a large audience and it would not be as time-consuming as having one of our own. GBACC had attempted to schedule its own Trade Show last year but did not get enough participation to make it work. A proposal to continue investigating participation in the Frederick Chamber Trade Show was approved. Hanna Politis, Rosemary Huf, Cheryl Wathen and Jerry Knight will form a committee to make further recommendations for our participation.
Organizational: Rosemary Huf reported on the $50/50% program. The program will have a new format. It will be advertised to the public and posted on the GBACC web site. Members of the community will be encouraged to answer GBACC questions for a chance to win the $50/50% Certificate. Rosemary will discuss this with the GBACC Web Master Phil Graves.
Cheryl Wathen is obtaining information on how GBACC can set up a scholarship program. She will report on her finding at the February GBACC Business Meeting.
Publicity: Ellis reported Placemat #31is available for members advertisements. There are several spaces which need to be filled. A possible new format for the placemat was displayed and it was announced that Robert Bell will be taking on the publicity responsibilities.
The 2010 Directories are printed and have been distributed to many GBACC Members. Members are encouraged to get the directories and pass them out to the local community.
A Frederick News Post insert should be available for advertising in the near future.
Announcements: Hanna Politis announced preparations are being made for the June 19, 2010 Music Festival in the Historic District of Brunswick. Sponsors are needed for the event.
Abbie Ricketts discussed the upcoming Brunswick Main Street Progressive Dinner on February 13, 2010. More information will be available soon in the Friday Bulletin.
Patricia Clements and Gayle Shaw of Costco explained the Costco Children Network Events coming up in May 2010. More information on this event will be in an upcoming Friday Bulletin.
Ellis announced the EDC Meeting is Thursday, Jan 7th at City Hall.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 AM.
